USAC was linked to National Remote Sensing

Dehradun:(Page3 News Network)- Chairing 7th Governing Body of Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC) at Secretariat on Tuesday Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain laid emphasis on maximum utilization of science and technology for development of the State. He directed the officers concerned to modernize the land records based on GIS and also to strengthen the telecommunication system to meet natural disasters affectively. He said that space science could also be used to check forest fires.
 Director USAC Dr. MM Kimothi said that the Centre was developing Centre Digital Data Base, School Mapping, Wet Land, Snow and Glacier Information System and Nanda Raj Jat portals. He said that works were being undertaken in the field of land record program, space based information system for planning, search of water resources, underwater quality mapping, snow and glacier study, climate change study, integrated water harvesting and monitoring, forest and environment study, agriculture, medicinal plants study and disaster risk monitoring. Mr. Kimothi said that the USAC was linked to National Remote Sensing Centre Hyderabad, Space Application Centre Ahmadabad, ISRO Bangaluru, Forest Survey of India, Wadia Institute Dehradun and many other renowned institutes.
 Also present in the meeting were Secretary Finance Radha Raturi, Secretary Science &Technology RC Pathak, Additional Secretary Finance Manoj Chandran, Additional Secretary Home Amit Sinha, Director Wadia Institute VK Gupta and Dean Regional Remote Sensing Centre S K Shah.
